House in Serock
House in Serock is a renovation of a historic home with a remarkable past - a place where Pablo Picasso once spent time. The aim was to create a contemporary, comfortable home for a young family with two small children, while preserving the distinctive elements of the original architecture.
The project involved the extensive renovation of the existing house, together with an extension adding new spaces. One of the most distinctive features of the interiors is the original brickwork, which was uncovered and left exposed, becoming an integral part of the design. Its raw, tactile character is balanced by light wood, natural marble and soft, neutral textiles, creating a calm and timeless atmosphere.
The new part of the house was conceived as a natural extension of the existing building. A small guest house was also added, echoing the same architectural language and material palette. Its central feature is a sculptural white spiral staircase, creating a striking focal point against the warmth of the wood.
Throughout the house, light wood appears across the floors, staircases and bespoke joinery, bringing warmth to the minimalist backdrop. Marble adds a subtle sense of refinement, while soft textiles and carefully selected furnishings keep the spaces relaxed and connected to everyday family life.
The result is a home where the history of the place meets contemporary living - shaped by natural materials, light and carefully considered contrasts. A home designed for a young family, with a character that comes naturally from its setting and its history.
